New Rear Extension and Alterations

to a Grade II Listed Building,  Exmouth

This delightful project was for a new rear extension, alterations and new windows and lime render to a circa 300 year old Grade II Listed thatched cottage in Exmouth, East Devon.


The new contemporary extension is subservient to the massing of the historic building, creating a new social core to the layout of the dwelling with much needed light and airy open plan living space.


The creative intervention has proven to be a happy successful environment for a busy young family, perfect for the recent lockdown.


The site has just received planning permission for a new rear dormer window at first floor level, containing a master bedroom suite and juliette balcony. 


We had good collaboration with the Conservation Officers at EDDC who were fundamental in listening to and developing our ideas to reach fruition. We thank them for their expertise and help in gaining our listed building consent.
