Andrew Long Architects have been appointed to carry out a full professional RIBA service for the extension, internal and external alterations and loft conversion of a semi detached dwelling in Exmouth, Devon.

 

The scheme provides for accommodation which is life time homes compliant and wheel chair accessible. The ground floor has wheel chair turning circles in every room, an accessible wet room, bedroom and living - dining - kitchen area. Wider doorways with suitable ironmongery and a loft conversion to provide 2 extra bedrooms and a bath room. A new entrance porch and canopy gives a new sense of arrival to the dwelling. new extension, subservient to the existing house, accommodates new utility, wet room, bathroom and storage.

 

A new contemporary palette of materials which included zinc, glass blocks, render, wood effect cladding and aluminium windows and doors provided a high quality composition of design for the dwelling both inside and outside. New open plan entrance spaces and voids lit with rooflights created drama, space and light adding value to the site.
